Terraforming & Griefing
Property protection, landscape standards and responsibilities for large building projects.
Do Not Damage Other Players' Property
Do not destroy, alter, steal from, sabotage, burn, flood, trap, or otherwise interfere with another player's builds or property without their permission or a server mechanic that explicitly allows it.
Do Not Grief the Natural Environment
Large-scale or deliberately destructive alterations to the landscape are prohibited when they serve no reasonable purpose. This includes destroying mountains, draining lakes, flattening large areas, leaving floating terrain, creating massive pits, or otherwise leaving the world visibly damaged.
Clean Up After Resource Gathering
Players are expected to avoid leaving unnecessary damage behind when gathering resources. Temporary scaffolding, exposed tunnels, stripped terrain, abandoned pillars, floating trees, and similar mess should be removed or repaired where reasonably possible.
Mayors May Regulate Buildings Within Their Town
Town leadership may establish reasonable building standards and may require residents to alter, relocate, or remove builds that clearly conflict with the town's layout, theme, infrastructure, or established rules. These expectations should be communicated fairly rather than enforced without warning.
Mayors Cannot Arbitrarily Destroy Resident Property
A mayor disliking a build is not, by itself, justification to immediately demolish it. Residents should normally be given notice and a reasonable opportunity to modify or remove their property unless the build is actively harmful, obstructive, abandoned, or clearly violates established town rules.
Do Not Use Building as a Form of Harassment
Structures created primarily to annoy, intimidate, obstruct, surround, insult, or inconvenience another player or settlement are considered griefing even if they do not directly damage protected property.
Large Projects Must Respect Their Surroundings
Mega-projects, extensive terraforming, artificial islands, canals, large mines, dams, mountain removal, and similar projects are allowed, but they must not unreasonably damage neighbouring settlements, important routes, or major natural features. Staff may intervene where a project has an excessive impact on the surrounding world.
Abandoned Property Is Not Automatically Free to Destroy
An inactive player's builds, belongings, or settlement remain protected unless server rules, Town leadership procedures, or staff specifically determine that the property may be removed, reclaimed, or repurposed.
