Building Rules & Standards

Vastala is a pre-modern world. Your builds should look like they belong somewhere between Ancient times and roughly 1500 AD, with 1600 as the absolute latest.

1600 is the absolute latest point of reference.

Do

Build within the world

Use medieval, ancient, Renaissance, cultural or grounded fantasy architecture.

Don't

Avoid obviously modern design

No skyscrapers, modern houses, apartments, factories, glass towers, modern roads, sci-fi or other obviously modern structures.

01

No real monument copies

Take inspiration from real architecture, but do not recreate famous landmarks such as the Colosseum, Notre-Dame, Big Ben or the Pyramids. Inspiration is fine; direct monument copies are not.

02

Build believably

Towns should make sense as places people could actually live in. Use sensible streets, housing, markets, farms, docks and buildings appropriate to their purpose.

03

Fortify your town

Walls, gates, towers, moats, ditches and natural defences are strongly encouraged. Fortification can also contribute towards town progression and rewards.

04

Build for Vastala

Your town should feel like its own civilisation, not a modern city wearing a medieval texture pack.
