Origins
Knightly Orders
Player created Knight organisations with a Hall, leadership, founding oath, heraldry and persistent history.
Overview
Knightly Orders are permanent player created organisations for formally knighted players. They are separate from Towns, Nations, Faiths and Noble Fealty, even when an Order later becomes religiously affiliated.
An Order is centred on a registered Towny Hall, a founding oath, its members, leadership and heraldry.
Founding an Order
A formally knighted player can found an Order while standing on Towny land with /knight order create <Order_Name>. The system records that Town and chunk as the Order Hall and asks the founder to write the Order's founding oath.
The founder becomes Grandmaster. Members do not need to live in the headquarters Town, but the Hall remains the physical anchor for the Order's identity and official Standard.
Ranks and leadership
| Rank | Role |
|---|---|
| Grandmaster | Leads the Order, manages membership, heraldry, leadership succession and Faith patronage. |
| Marshal | Officer who can help recruit, issue eligible commendations and manage the Hall Standard. |
| Knight | Normal full member of the Order. |
The Grandmaster can promote Knights to Marshal, demote Marshals, transfer leadership to another eligible member, or expel a member dishonourably.
Joining and leaving
Order leadership can invite another formally knighted player with /knight order invite <player>. A Knight may belong to only one Order at a time.
Normal members can leave with /knight order leave. A Grandmaster cannot simply leave and orphan the Order. They must first transfer leadership or dissolve it.
Heraldry and Standards
Orders use real Minecraft banner designs. The Grandmaster creates a banner in a Loom, holds the finished design and registers it with /knight order heraldry register.
Members can then request an official Order Standard with /knight order banner. A Grandmaster or Marshal can place the current official Standard inside the headquarters chunk to register it as the Hall Standard.
Official Standards carry hidden Order identity, so the server can distinguish them from ordinary lookalike banners.
Faith patronage
A Knightly Order can remain independent or ask a player created Faith for patronage. Approved Orders are first Affiliated. They become fully Sacred only after a physical altar consecration.
See Sacred Orders for the patronage and consecration rules.
History and reputation
Joining an Order, becoming Marshal or Grandmaster, expulsion, heraldry and Sacred Order events can all become part of individual Knight Chronicles. The Order itself also remains historically meaningful if it is later dissolved.
