Southern Gullspear Archipelago

Vesport

A small island port that became a key maritime link between Cuthelan and Suthelan after the Seventh Sundering.

Vesport

Vesport is a small port-town located off the south side of the southern Gullspear Archipelago. Originally a small rural town, Vesport began to see rapid growth after the Seventh Sundering due to its relative warmth, open-water ports and proximity to Suthelan. It quickly became the prime connector port between Suthelan and Cuthelan, with an open route between Tianji and Vesport being established by merchants.

Origins

Its original inhabitants are believed to be of Artithian descent, primarily those who moved away from the capital during the Artithian Civil War, wanting to escape the rule of a tyrannical ruler.

For much of its early history, Vesport remained a small and quiet rural settlement rather than a major port. Its position only became strategically important once the wider trade routes of the Silent Ocean began to change.

Growth After the Seventh Sundering

After the Seventh Sundering, Vesport's relative warmth and access to open water gave it an advantage over many older ports. As colder conditions, flooding and damaged infrastructure disrupted routes elsewhere, merchants increasingly used Vesport as a safe crossing point between Cuthelan and Suthelan.

The route between Tianji and Vesport became one of the clearest surviving links between the two regions, helping the town grow without ever becoming a great city in its own right.

Security

Since its creation, Vesport has remained relatively small and quiet. It has kept its peace largely through the hiring of foreign mercenaries from the main Gullspear landmass rather than relying on a large local military.

The town's harbour, watchtowers and fortified shoreline reflect this practical approach. Vesport exists first as a port and connector settlement, with its defences built around protecting that role.
