Independent admiral
Juliana “Mizu” Tiago
Captain of the Royal MarinaJuliana Tiago, more commonly known as Mizu, is a sailor, fleet commander and port founder whose body was transformed by an ancient relic. She does not yet know whether that transformation was a curse, a blessing or something between the two.
Life at sea
Juliana was born thirty-two years ago to a wealthy captain who had made his reputation fighting rebellious coastal raiders and privateers. Determined to follow him, she joined his ship, the Royal Marina, and learned the work of the deck while the crew hunted threats across the open sea.
When her father retired, Juliana took command with the crew’s approval. Using the family’s wealth and her own standing among sailors, she established a port and assembled a fleet of five ships, including the Royal Marina. She then declared herself an independent admiral.
The relic
Her life changed while escorting an archaeologist and his team to an island in search of ancient objects. Juliana claimed one relic for herself. During the argument that followed, the object broke in her hands and released the magic trapped within it. The archaeologists fled, leaving her changed and without an explanation.
Return to the harbour
Mizu still hopes to understand the relic and, perhaps, become human again. Until an answer is found, she has returned to the port she helped build. She is developing it into a centre of commerce and the permanent home of her navy.
