The Holy Ecclesiocracy of the Meadows of Anarion

A rising ecclesiocratic power born from the Anarion revival

The Holy Ecclesiocracy of the Meadows of Anarion is a rising large power shaped by the Enlightenment movement, the revival of Anarion and a deliberate fusion of church, military and civic authority.

Imperial beginnings

The realm began under Prestan Meadwyn as an expanding empire built from the tribes and spring-dwellers of Anarion. This earlier phase was marked by growth through Kingsfall, vigorous alliance-building and the early rise of the Enlightened Church of John.

Reorganisation of the state

After a diplomatic crisis involving Navalia, Prestan stepped down. His son Devod Meadwyn, joined by church, military and civic leadership, reshaped the nation into the Holy Ecclesiocracy. The resulting state divided leadership among the Anariarch, Grand Ecclesiarch, Grand Protector and High Steward, with broader administration carried by high and low councils.

Growth and wider significance

Under this ecclesiocratic structure, the Meadows expanded rapidly in size, population, influence and development. Its rise is presented as one of the factors that helped bring Pax Arescetia to an end by ensuring the continent no longer revolved around a single unchallenged power.

Ideal and ambition

The realm’s guiding tone is captured by its repeated promise: “Peace is Coming.” Even when it speaks the language of power, reform and growth, the Meadows frames its purpose in terms of preservation, just war and a more ordered horizon.
